How to play Shatterverse

The fast version: enter a run, clear the arena, make smart upgrade choices, and keep moving when Mental’s horde starts closing the distance.

First objective: learn the rhythm of a run. Shatterverse is built around repeated battles, changing modifiers, upgrades, and the decision to push deeper or reset with what you learned.

The core run loop

Shatterverse is a co-op roguelite FPS. The official description frames each run around shifting universes, hand-crafted arenas, enemy waves, weapons, Boons, and run modifiers. You are not simply walking through a linear campaign: you are building a temporary loadout while trying to survive long enough to reach the next major encounter.

01 / Move

Keep the arena readable

Run-and-gun combat rewards movement and awareness. Use the open space, watch the edges of the arena, and avoid standing still while the horde gathers.

02 / Build

Make the run yours

Pick up upgrades and modifiers that support the way you are already playing. Treat each choice as part of the current run rather than a permanent promise of a perfect build.

03 / Push

Take the next fight

Progress means taking on more battles and higher-risk opportunities. When playing with friends, say what you need before a fight turns chaotic: space, damage, or a safe route out.

Your first session

  1. Start solo or bring a squad. The Steam page lists both single-player and online co-op.
  2. Use the early fights to learn movement, enemy spacing, and how quickly threats reach you.
  3. Read each upgrade before selecting it. A stronger run is usually a set of choices that work together.
  4. When you die, treat the run as reconnaissance. Note which enemy, modifier, or arena pattern caused the collapse.

Common first-run mistakes

Standing still: the game’s identity is high-pressure arena combat. Keep moving and use the space.

Chasing every reward: a tempting route is not always a safe route. Weigh the reward against the current state of the squad.

Ignoring the team: Shatterverse is designed to be shared. Call out your position and coordinate who is handling the next threat.

It is presented as a roguelite FPS with shifting runs, arenas, upgrades, and modifiers rather than only a fixed linear campaign.
